Character:Evie Grimhilde
Series/Canon:Descendants series, specifically D3 with CRAU from her previous stay.
From When?Just after finding out Mal lied to her about dropping the barrier.
History: Evie Grimhilde is the daughter of The Evil Queen. Yes, That evil queen. The one that got super jealous of a girl because of her beauty, tried to have her murdered by a hunter and then tried to poison her with an apple. She grew up being taught that she absolutely needed a prince to be happy and the best way to get one was to pretend she was dumb, to learn how to cook and clean and sew perfectly, and to always be beautiful.
Fortunately for Evie, she always had a kindness to her, buying Carlos his first pillow and always treating her friends with care and respect.
When she and three of her friends were chosen to become students at Auradon Prep, Evie at first had a hard time fitting in. A very clever girl in her own way, she pretended she was a vapid, clueless airhead, trying to win the affection of the self-centered and dishonest Chad Charming. When that left her with a broken heart, she was at first dumbfounded. Everything her mother taught her was wrong. Eventually, however, she learned to shed her mothers teachings. She becomes the resident fashionista, making custom clothing for friends, helping them through rough patches in their lives and showing a high aptitude for chemistry.
A skilled sword-fighter, she's able to help Mal rescue Ben from the clutches of Uma and her gang and she and the rest of her class danced the night away during cotillion.
CRAU INFO: It's roughly at this time that her first visit to New Dodge happens. That visit was not intentional, Evie having fluxed in during the dance on the royal boat.
During her first time in New Dodge, Evie made herself busy and useful. She helped cure her boyfriend of lycanthropy and sent him back to his world with the cure. She opened her own custom clothing store, Bad Apple, and designed several dresses and outfits for the many weddings and fun events that happened in town. She even helped cure a mutated strain a disease created to reopen old injuries and mimic old diseases and when a dangerous fungus was creating zombies, she helped capture and cure the infected.
Unfortunately, despite Evie's wishes to stay in New Dodge, she went home. For her, two years has gone by since leaving.
Heading back to Auradon, Evie continued her life there, going to school, building her business there enough that she could buy her own starter castle after graduating Auradon Prep.
Canon Continuation:Some time after graduation, the Core Four are able to return to the Isle to choose four more Villain Kids for a better life in Auradon. During their visit to pick the kids up, Hades tries to escape. Mal's powers are drained some and, unknown to Evie at the time, Mal decides to close the barrier on the isle for good.
When Audrey gets a hold of Maleficents staff and vows revenge, the Core Four team up with other villain kids from the isle to stop her. People are put under a sleeping spell, Audrey throws everything she has at the group even going so far as to possess suits of armor to attack the group, but they're triumphant.
Heading to Evie's starter castle to plan what's best to handle Audrey, it's then that Evie and her friends learn that Mal has no intention to keep the barrier down and instead plans to leave it up forever, thus dooming everyone inside to a life in a terrible place.
Evie is hurt by this, even going so far as to yell at Mal, something Evie isn't prone to doing. This is when Evie will be coming to New Dodge. Reasoning explained below.
Why do you think your character would work in this setting? Evie accepted Eli's offer because she was in a rough spot. Her best friend and sister had lied to her, their brothers and an entire group of children on the Isle and Evie saw a need to step back some. She wants to do some good somewhere, but doesn't feel like she can do it back home in the face of Mal's dishonesty. So an opportunity to help a growing town, all while working through her own worries and hurt feelings and trying to come up with a way to help the kids on the isle who, as of this moment for Evie, will be stuck on the Isle when they don't deserve to be.
How do you plan to expand their CR?She is the most social of social butterflies. She'll talk to anyone and quickly consider almost everyone she speaks to a friend. She's a kind-hearted girl by nature, but not naive, so while she'll be glad to make friends with as many as possible, she also knows when it's best to step back and away from something that isn't good for her.
It also helps that she has previous CR there and will want to reconnect with all of the familiar faces that remain. She's missed her friends and family in New Dodge so getting to reunite with them and getting to know their loved ones will be a source of joy for her.
What will your character do for work?At present, Evie will work for Mr Nygma in his Escape Room. I also love the idea of her eventually getting her store back? And if not, opening another one of her own with a small apartment above.
Inventory: Since she's coming via shuttle, she'll bring enough clothes to survive that trip. She'll also be bringing her scrapbook with all her designs in it, a photo album of her friends, and the sword she carried when she and her friends fought the cursed knights Audrey sent after them.
Samples: Third-Person Sample: I know. It says she's a flux-in here and I said in the app she's here by choice.First-Person Sample: Mal,
I love you, first and foremost. Never, ever doubt that. We've been through a lot, you and the boys and myself. We've always had each others backs.
But you lied, and I just don't understand why. You were the Isle Kids Champion. You had them all hoping they could leave like we did. Harry and Uma and Gil were all counting on you for their freedom.
You could have told me about your decision. I wouldn't have backed you at all, we both know this, but we'd have found a way to help the ones we promised. We always do.
I'm sorry for leaving, but I need some space. I'm going back to New Dodge. I know, we both left at the same time, but they still need help and I'm hoping this gives me time to sort out my thoughts about what happened.
Eli said when I return, it'll be like I never left. When I come back, we're going to fix this and set things right for everyone. For Harry and Uma and Dizzy and Celia and all the kids who deserve so much better than life on the Isle could ever offer them. All the kids we made a promise to.
I love you, Mal.
Love,
Evie.
