[ Regina waffles at the answer. Would she rather have Evie worried about the sad or teasing her about Neil? For tonight, she decides on Neil. Tomorrow maybe they can talk about Robin and the boys. ]

I have a dinner date. I expect they'll stay for dessert.

From:

Oh, really? Tell me about this person.

From:

[ Her mouth twitches into a small almost feline, very feminine and pleased smile. ]

Tall, dark, etc. I met him in New Dodge. He came over from Dark Dodge. This version didn't know me but we have a connection anyway. He knows who I am and I think he likes me better because of it.

Does he have a name? I’m glad he likes you for you. It’s an amazing feeling.

From:

Of course he has a name. He isn't the Doctor.

[ She could tell her, but she's not sure she wants Evie trying to talk to him yet. Instead, she distracts with the other thing she wasn't planning to say this time. ]

It's complicated. Robin's my True Love. I still miss him.

Okay, what's his name? I'm not going to seek him out until I have your okay to do so. Unless he hurts you, but I doubt he will. That'd be stupid and I don't see you as the type to date unintelligent people.

Some day, maybe we can talk over tea about Robin and your new guy.

From:

His name is Neil. I'll introduce you soon. Just give me a little time to understand what this all means.

Tea after work tomorrow, here. At the Inn. Just the two of us.

I'm looking forward to it. And, Regina?

I'm happy for you.

From:

That makes one of us. I don't know how to feel. 
But I do have to go dress.

[ She pauses and then sends another response. If she doesn't like how Evie dresses her, she can always change, but this time... this time she's unsettled enough without clothes she doesn't know. ]

A basic witch. Hardly even that. Spiders? Really? Who spit in her Pumpkin Spice Latte? She must be new to curses and hexes. That’s such a sad curse with so many counter curses. I’m going to tell you the same thing I told Jack when he offered the same thing.

[ Pause for effect and; ]

[ Neil's text sets off warning bells. Without discussing it with Neil, she immediately texts Emma and Evie together. ]

Neil's sick. I may take him to Nova. Emma, can you

stay at the house with the kids? Bring Regan? Evie, can you

watch them during the day tomorrow?

Absolutely. I'll be there, bright and early.

Will Neil be okay?

From:

Thank you. 

Dragon fire doesn't like human bodies. He'll be fine,
but the children don't need to hear it.

Are you telling Charlie what's going on?

[ Evie doesn't know the girl well enough to be the one to deliver that brand of news. ]

From:

I will video them later.

If they ask questions, tell them it's a magic problem. Safer to deal with it away from the house.

I saw she wrote her schedule out and put it on the fridge the other day. If I remember correctly, she has work and won’t be home until threeish. Make sure she understands Neil will be fine. She may not say it yet, but the way she looks at him. He’s absolutely her dad.

[ Neil's heading toward delirium, but she'll make time for this. It's important. She just hopes she won't be lying. It's all right to tell Evie he'll be fine without being sure. Evie will understand she needs to believe it, but she can't lie to Charlie. ]

We’re heading home soon and I’m gonna keep her the hell off her damn feet for a couple of days—think you can help me gang up on her if she tries to pull any queenly or motherly crap to start runnin’ around? I think I got Alice to play the ‘cute kid’ card so she stays in bed, but I want a second line or defense.

[ If this had been a year or so ago, sure. She'd be glad to help for someone who knew how to win her over with comments about her appearance. Maybe not so the intelligence. Not a couple years go. ]

Who's flattering? [Butter wouldn't melt in his dragon mage mouth--mostly because he actually wasn't flattering her. He's just exceedingly biased because she's Regina's kid.]

Seriously, though--if it wasn't already made abundantly clear, you're the greatest.

Aren't you the queen of amazing timing? I was just looking up recipes for soup. We can meet in the kitchen at my house to make this, so we don't cause too much noise for her and bother her.

Really? Well, it's a good thing I don't have a pocket watch that's two days slow!

Have you made them before? Should I go to the market before coming by?

How about this? I meet you at your place, we can go to the market together and we can grab something for lunch before we do our grocery shopping?

[ Code for Evie wants time with her baby sister. ]

Alright, that sounds splendid! That's wonderful because I actually don't even know where the market is. [But she had been willing to go by herself for Regina.]

From:

I'm there daily. It's becoming a bad habit. Let me leave a note for Jack and then I'll see you soon, Alice.

[ Evie really does adore this child. To the moon and back. And after leaving a note for Jack where he'll see it, Evie heads to Alice's place and knocks, ten minutes after leaving her house. ]

And I'll leave one for Neil!

[When Evie knocks, Alice answers the door and immediately hugs Evie around the middle.]

EVIE! [Never mind that she's been with Evie several days, she's always excited to see the older girl who is like a sister to her.]

[ Evie crouches for the hugs, bending to pick Alice up with ease to hug her tight before setting her down again. ]

Hello, lovely girl. How are you? And where did you come up with the idea for apple roses?

Oh, I didn't come up with it! Not on my own, I was looking through a Holiday Cookbook and I remembered seeing them as this beautiful picture with powdered sugar. I even remember the title "Perfect Holiday Desserts for the Health Nuts."

[She tilted her head.]

Though I've never heard of a health nut, aren't all nuts supposed to be healthy? I'm rather partial to cashews as far as nuts go, myself. And the recipe didn't even have nuts in it! Maybe you can add them in if you wish.
